I'm Gavin Miller, a Software Engineer certified in C# and SQL and experienced in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting apps, APIs, databases, SQL queries and reports that help run companies.

    Role Description:
    • Started as a full-stack software engineer for 8 years and was promoted to leading my own team of software engineers for the next 7 years. 
    • Lead Developer, Vnet. Vantage had numerous SQL queries, reports and custom apps scattered across its network, and I combined them into one modular, SQL Server data dictionary-driven, SQL-statement building, Active Directory-authenticating, Excel exporting/importing, Crystal Reports printing, workflow routing C#.NET Windows app called Vnet now powering 1,500 modules and used by over 1,000 employees of Vantage, Affinity Health Group, Monroe Surgical Hospital, and St. John Pharmacy. Any IT analyst can use Vnet to quickly build Vnet modules without touching the source code. That cut our app and report development time from weeks or months down to a few hours. 
    • Lead Developer, Vdocs. Our 3rd-party document imaging solution OnBase obfuscated their database to prevent the easy extraction of our documents, so I solved that problem by building Vdocs, so users can easily add nearly any type of document to any record of any module in Vnet. Then I built VDocs Import, which monitors Windows folders, and imports any documents our users save into those folders, like FaxComm or screenshots or images scanned from printers, and then workflows them. 
    • Lead Developer, Vscheduler. Vantage has so many EDI files coming in and going out, all with different file layouts and custom apps to handle them, so I wrote a single C#.NET Windows app called vScheduler that parses all our incoming files and creates all our outgoing files. 
    • Wrote Microsoft SQL Server queries, databases, tables, views, indexes, complex queries, stored
      procedures, SSRS reports, Crystal Reports across our MicroDyn Medicare pricing, PDM, OnBase document imaging, and Cognizant Trizetto QNXT software of health insurance claims, members, providers, sponsors, authorizations, grievances and appeals. 
    • Created Vnet Module Promotion and Vnet API, streamlining deployment and API creation.  

  • Job Title: Programmer Anslyst

    Role Description:
    • Lead Developer, Patient Portal. I helped build the hospital's extremely advanced Patient Information Access System using C#, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript and CSS that pulled from our SQL Server data warehouse. In fact, when a corporation bought our hospital, they admitted that our system was even better than their own! 
    • Lead Developer, Intranet. I developed the hospital's Intranet using Classic ASP, VBScript, Photoshop, JavaScript and HTML. So, I can design user interfaces as well as code them. 
    • Developed several AS/400-to-PC interfaces, including JD Edwards Accounts Receivable, Payroll, General Ledger, Pyxis MedStation, etc. using CL, SQL, RPG, XML, Delphi and Visual Basic.
    • Analyzed existing JD Edwards and SMS software systems and modified them to fit the specific needs of the users, while continuously maintaining excellent communication with every department director. 
    • Installed AS/400 & Windows software and updated customized RPG source code for MedSeries4.
    • Helped administer 40 Windows 2000 Servers & AS/400 and troubleshoot 300 Windows client PCs.  

  • Job Title: Programmer Analyst / Network Administrator

    Period: December 1999 - August 2001

    Role Description:
    • Helped the hospital start its first Information Systems department. 
    • Developed custom healthcare software for the IBM AS/400 using CL, SQL & RPG and for Windows PCs using Delphi and Visual Basic. 
    • Administered the primary Novell network, Windows NT servers, AS/400, and 200 client PCs.
    • Administered the hospital's Lotus Notes server and set up new clients. 
    • Troubleshooted, repaired, and configured printers and DOS and Windows client PCs to work across the
      combination TCP/IP and IPX/SPX network. 
    • Supervised and supported two network analysts.
