Returning professional wants to serve underprivileged communities. Keen interest in advocacy, human rights, and affordable, accessible, and sustainable housing for all.
As someone who experienced extensive hardships in my own life, I understand the unique challenges faced in escaping homelessness, poverty, victimization, and violence. I want to help others navigate the often-confusing and intimidating process of getting back on their own feet.
My degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, along with first-hand experience with counseling and social welfare programs, has allowed me to become intimately familiar with the often-difficult process of regaining control of one's life, setting realistic expectations of recovery, and eventually flourishing in a new life.
My ultimate goal will be to establish an intermediate self-sustained community for victims of domestic and family violence in an under-served rural area. I want to provide them a chance to regain competency in self-care and self-sufficiency, participate in employment and educational training, and receive counseling and child care that works with their schedule while providing a safe and secure environment to live.
