IT Security Specialist

The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.The Strategic Technology Division (STD) is responsible for developing and coordinating development of emergency technology applications, Strategic IT infrastructure, and enterprise platforms. STD is seeking a qualified candidate to perform the duties which include, but are not limited to:1. Plan, define and maintain policies, standards, configuration and operating procedures and guidelines regarding security, identity and access. Define, manage and monitor data security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability. 2. Monitors industry developments; liaises with vendors. Ensures compliance with Citywide and agency security policies and standards. Recommends updates and improvements to agency security policies and standards. Consults with agency executives to provide IT Security Policy guidance. 3. Identifies probable system exposure, compromise, problems or design flaws and escalates issues to upper management to limit serious performance impact. 4. Design, implement and support Cisco-centric WAN, LAN, and wireless infrastructure. 5. Offers support to application development, network, server, database and storage teams regarding new technologies, services, and system requirements. 6. Provide security design assistance on new products and internally developed projects. 7. Manage and support remote access technologies (VPN, Terminal Services, etc.) 8. Work with emerging technologies such as SD-Wan, Cisco ACI, and data center products.9.
